It's been a while...

So, I could sit here and tell you that
I can't believe it is coming up on the end of August...
I can't believe how fast time goes,
I can't believe it has been a month since
I have posted any updates on our blog, and so on and so on!
But you all already know all of that.
Time goes fast and summers are over in the blink of an eye!
But my best excuse is that my wonderful 18 month old son doesn't let his father or I anywhere near a computer or a phone without him thinking that it should be him doing the typing or the talking.
I can try to say "no Evan, mom is on the computer right now",
but I think you also know how well that would work!
I walked away from the computer last night for a minute,
and came back to this smiling face...

So here I am sneaking in my updates at a location where
Evan is always in my heart, but nowhere near my keyboard!

Evan and Jack

Jack came to visit us for a few hours last Saturday.
Evan really enjoys the time he spends
with his 3 month old cousin.
Evan shares his toys with him, knows not to play too rough,
and wants to snuggle with me and eat at the same time as Jack.

Cleaning House

Evan's loves to 'help' me clean up around the house.
As soon as I open the pantry,
he grabs the broom and starts sweeping.
He hands me the plates out of the dishwasher and
closes the dryer door when we get the laundry.
What a wonderful little helper I have!

Buhl Family Vacation - August 2009

Our first family vacation!
We were invited by Gerry and Jo to join them
at a cabin near Sauk Center.
We stayed for 5 relaxing days!

Trek Ball is Evan's new favorite game,
Craig brought him to Target the day after we got home to buy him one of his own.

Zach lives in Iowa, but we hope these two will be close friends, just like their moms!

Richfield Pool

It has been at least 15 years since
I have been to the Richfield Pool.
You know...back when you didn't mind wearing the
swimsuit without the cover up!
Well, last week I had a couple of days off with Evan so we went to the pool with our Scanlon girlfriends.
We had a GREAT time!
The kiddie pool depth starts at zero feet and gradually increases.
Perfect for Evan, who was having his first water experience outside of the bathtub.

With every step in the water he would make such a joyful giggle.
Never far from his trusty bucket and shovel.

Fun in the Sun

4th of July

We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!

On July 3rd we went to the Richfield Street Dance. Evan had a great time exploring, dancing, and staying up late. (It is funny how 'late' becomes 10pm when you are parents of a toddler)

On Saturday we went to the parade with Nichole and Jack.
I am not sure how much of the parade I actually saw since Evan was more interested getting to know all of the other spectators sitting around us. He wanted to eat their food, play with their toys and hug strangers when he got tired and needed a snuggle.
We made it home after the parade just in time before Mother Nature decided to give the city a rain shower!
Since we had so much fun the night before at the dance, we didn't make it to the fireworks this year, but Evan and I did enjoy some that were being displayed on Channel 4. I know, I know, not the same thing, but I swear we'll try for the real thing next year!

Blair Family Get-Together

The Blair side of the family got together in June at my grandparents house in Edina, all the Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandkids, Sisters and Brothers that can make it, for an all family birthday party.

It was nice to see everyone, and it gave Evan an opportunity to wish his Grandpa David a belated Happy Father's Day!

Cousin Madyson was nice enough to share her bubble blowing gizmo with Evan, which he absolutely loved!

Father's Day 2009

We had a beautiful day for our Father's Day BBQ!

Our family celebrated on Saturday in our backyard under a
big tree that provided shade for everyone on such a warm day!

Evan - 15 months

Our little man is 15 months old already!

He often gets mistaken for a 2 year old because he is a big boy!
Evan's 15 month stats are:
Height: 33 inches (97%)
Weight: 30 pounds (95%)
Head: 20 inches (100+ %)

He has shorter legs that are in charge of holding up a
long torso, big belly and large head!
Our doctor lovingly joked that he is a little 'top heavy' while we were discussing his many bumps and bruises. Try as we might to protect it, he is just the right height for table tops, coffee tables and more to make a mark. Not to mention that he is trying to increase his speed, and when the body wants to move faster than your feet, falls are bound to happen.

Evan is learning so much these days.
Every morning he brings me his shoes when he is ready to leave. He loves to be outside.
You can ask him just about any question and get a "yah" response with a nod of the head.
He will give you a hug to say hi and
blow you a kiss when it is time to leave.
Evan is our picky eater.
We basically rotate grilled cheese, mac 'n cheese,
ravioli, and french toast.
I sneak in spoonfuls of applesauce and veggies.
I got some tips at his dr appt to try and broaden his menu.
He loves milk and would drink half a gallon a day if we let him.

This is a photo of him separating the grilled cheese from cantelope.

He has many favorite toys...
He loves Tickle Me Elmo, gives him hugs and kisses and
clumsily tries to carry him around the house.
Here he is cuddling with daddy and Elmo.

And when we are outside, you can't go wrong with playing ball, any size or color will do, just let him kick and throw it so that he can go chase it and do it all again.
He plays hard and sleeps hard.
He will often wake up in the middle of the night right now, many times just for a hug and will go back to sleep.
I also think that teething has something to do with this since he is getting 3 at once right now.
Just one more to go and then we are in the clear until 2 year molars.
I guess, in a nutshell, our baby is now a toddler.
He loves life and brings so much happiness to our hearts.

Our Weekend

Craig went fishing this weekend, so it is me and Evan.
We have had a fun weekend together.

Saturday was a lazy morning for us, then we made a Target trip. Evan is a great shopper, he enjoys people watching.
We then went to his friend Sam's 2 year birthday party where
Evan wanted to help Sam break in all his new toys.

Sunday we went to Southdale after morning nap and then to dinner at Ryan and Nichole's house.
Back to work tomorrow...
